Adelaide, South Australia will host the largest gathering of Australia’s leading economic developers at Economic Development Australia’s (EDA) annual National Conference (NEDC 2019) from October 23-25, 2019.
EDA is the peak national body for economic development practitioners strengthening and promoting economic development through state and national events, professional development, advocacy and member support. EDA has over 650 members nationally and the annual conference is the biggest forum for economic development practitioners across the country, allowing delegates to share knowledge regarding latest trends and best practice in building the prosperity of Australian communities.

The National Economic Development Conference is EDA’s major annual event; in its 12th year, national and international experts will focus on how to leverage a Smart City agenda for Economic Development. The theme “Digital Globalisation: Digital Localisation” will attract leading Australian and international experts to discuss the convergence of emerging technology, Artificial Intelligence, Defence & Space and the Digital Creative industries and their impact on economic development.
The pitch to secure the conference was led by the City of Adelaide with support from a consortium of local councils including; City of Onkaparinga, City of Unley, City of Port Adelaide Enfield, City of Prospect, City of Charles Sturt, City of Holdfast Bay and City of West Torrens. The Adelaide Convention Bureau assisted with the development of the bid which saw it succeed over other cities and regions.
