Jane Laverty is a self-confessed regionalist with a personal mission and passion for sustainable economic development and quality community and business engagement in the Northern Rivers. Jane is currently Regional Manager for Business NSW (NSW Business Chamber) with over 20 years in economic development, project management and engagement roles.
“I think of myself as a blank page specialist and value the opportunity to build projects from the ground up, often looking for ways to do things differently and see the approach and intent in which we engage making the difference”.
Jane has spent the last 15 years in regional NSW primarily in economic development roles including team leader Economic Development and Tourism with Byron Shire Council where she project managed the Byron Bay Town Centre Masterplan development and created Enterprising Byron 2025 (economic development strategy). She was also the marketing and engagement partner on the Northern Rivers Foodlinks Project; a whole of region $2M Environmental Trust food security initiative aimed at reducing greenhouse gas emissions through sustainable agriculture practices and community behavioural change.
Jane advocates on behalf of business and industry for improved business conditions and works closely with local business leaders and all levels of government to create jobs and attract regional investment.
