EDA Queensland’s Christmas 2018 Networking event

All economic and regional developers are warmly invited. The networking function will include presentations on; The Upgraded Queensland Globe for better economic planning and decision making by Steve Jakoby, Executive Director, Department of Natural Resources, Mines & Energy; The new ASBAS Digital Business Small Business Solutions Program Queensland rollout by Tony Chadwick, Coordinator Northern Territory and Queensland, followed by an Update on The Red Toolbox by John Sheridan, Digital Business Insights.

The Queensland Globe is an online interactive tool using cutting edge technology that turns physical, geographical and spatial data about a particular location into map format. Originally launched at the G20 in Brisbane, The Queensland Globe has recently been upgraded.  Steve Jakoby, Executive Director, Land & Spatial Information Department of Natural Resources, Mining & Energy will talk us through the multitude of useful applications the Globe offers to Economic and Regional Development practitioners and businesses alike from their new home at Queensland government’s ‘The Precinct’ in Fortitude Valley, Brisbane

The event will commence with a tour of The Precinct for interested participants. Arrive at 3.30pm if taking the tour. Please advise if you wish to take the tour in your RSVP.

The event will be followed by a walk through the new Howard Smith Wharves development under Story Bridge and dinner at Felons Brewing Co for those who are interested. Please RSVP to participate in the walk and dinner.

3.30-4pm Tour of The Precinct.

4-4.10pm Welcome and overview of EDA and Qld SPN including year’s wrap up, summary of the EDA national conference and plans for 2019. Holly Walton, Chair.

4.10-4.40pm Presentation on The Queensland Globe, Steve Jakoby DNRME;

4.40-5.00pm  ASBAS Digital Business Solutions; what is it and what can we expect in Queensland.  Tony Chadwick, Coordinator Northern Territory and Queensland;

5.00-5.20pm The Updated RED Toolbox, John Sheridan, Digital Business Insights;

5.20-6pm Networking drinks with opportunity to interact with the online digital tools.

The Precinct is located in the TC Beirne Building, Level 2, 315 Brunswick Street, Fortitude Valley. You can book Secure parking online at Chinatown Car Park, Entry via Duncan or Gipps Streets for $13.50 (entry after 2.00pm) here
