Briefing by the WA Commissioner for International Trade and Investment
17 October 2019 @ AEST 10:40 am - 12:00 pmFree
EDA invites you to a special briefing with Mr John Catlin, the WA Commissioner for International Trade and Investment based in Singapore.
Western Australia and Singapore have developed strong bonds over many years. Singapore was WA’s fifth largest market for merchandise exports in 2018, and its sixth largest market for imports. The Government of Western Australia’s Singapore Office was established in 2012 to support Western Australian companies wanting to access the trade and investment opportunities found in Singapore.
The role of the office includes:
- Promoting two-way trade and investment between Western Australia and the ASEAN region.
- Expanding trade and investment networks in Singapore, Malaysia, Vietnam, Cambodia, Myanmar, and Thailand.
- Focused on international education, premium food and beverages, health, aged care and human services alongside Western Australia’s dominant role in commodities trade.
- Maintaining a team-driven, product-centred service nurturing B2B relationships.
This informal briefing provides EDA with an opportunity to understand what the commissioner’s role is, talk about current issues and trends, and about how economic development practitioners can engage with the commissioner, linking investors to local businesses opportunities.
