Blue Economy Briefing

1 October @ 4:00 pm - 5:00 pm

Free

Future niches, clusters and industries can be identified through analysis of the environment, and be the basis for investment and economic development. Yet how does one find such emerging opportunities, and decide if, which, when and how to invest in them?

This seminar will provide both: insight from a practitioner in how, where and when to find and invest in such opportunities, and a briefing on phase one of “For Blue”: a study into oceans-related economic opportunities for WA institutions, innovators and new industries. The marine industry is worth $68 billion and of greater economic value to Australia than either agriculture or the coal industry, yet as a whole has received limited attention as an area of opportunity for WA.

Speaker:

Andrew Outhwaite
Andrew Outhwaite is an adviser and analyst serving high-potential ventures, and entrepreneurial leader founding beneficial innovations. He authored “For Blue” and has previously led innovation strategy development and implementation with Federal, State and Local governments. As an entrepreneur he co-founded multiple social ventures including Meshpoints network, Pollinators Inc incubator, CityHive coworking, Spark challenge and Goodness festival.
