A Day in the Life of an Economic Development Practitioner: Dr. Ian Martinus

This is the first in a series of informal EDA gatherings in which members talk about their work in economic development. Speakers will share their challenges, success and headaches in doing economic development at the coalface.

Ian Martinus is the manager of advocacy and economic development at the City of Wanneroo, which is one of fastest growing local government areas in WA. Its ‘big three’ industries are construction, manufacturing and retail. Ian has 20 years experience in economic development and investment management appointments in the private and public sectors. He has prepared and implemented economic development strategies for local government, and undertaken a range of international development assignments while also brokered a range of strategic partnerships. He is the co-founder of two technology startups: GoBuyNow in 2000 (ecommerce) and Livepad41 in 2011 (real time digital visualisation and sentiment analysis).

The event is be free, on a buy-your-own drinks basis.
