This position is within the Economic Development Unit (EDU) of the City of Greater Dandenong. The EDU markets the city as a business destination, facilitates business attraction, investment and employment creation, supports existing businesses and measures and monitors the local and regional economy to enhance the economic prosperity of the area. The position has become vacant due to a recent resignation.
The objectives of the position include contributing to the effective operation of the EDU and Greater Dandenong Business through the implementation of the Council’s Economic and Employment Strategy and Council plans. This will be achieved through the implementation of activities, events, programs and projects supporting the local economy. The provision of advice and consultation on economic matters to the EDU and Council via research and analysis of a wide range of economic market data relevant to local and regional economic issues, policies and strategies of the City of Greater Dandenong.
The incumbent will be tertiary qualified in relevant areas which may include economics, market research, economic development, statistics or related fields and have at least two years’ work experience in one of these areas. The incumbent should have a significant level of knowledge and understanding of the principles and practices of economic development, be able to multi-strategy projects and activities, understanding of economic development research principles and demonstrated well developed analytical and problem solving skills.
