This is a newly created role within the Economic Development Unit. The Unit exists to champion and support local businesses so they prosper. We do this through the provision of a variety of services and products.

The primary objectives of the position are to lead on the Better Approvals Project, help strengthen the organisation’s investment attraction capabilities, with an emphasis on commercial investment, and contribute to the effective operation of the Economic Development Unit and Business, Engineering & Major Projects Directorate.

Required knowledge, skills, experience and attitudes include tertiary qualifications and/or substantial experience in economic development, business development or town planning, demonstrated experience in working with and/or in businesses, proven ability to work collaboratively with multiple stakeholders, strong relationship building skills, experience in leading teams (either formally or informally), demonstrated understanding of the role Council plays in Economic Development and the permit approval process for businesses, understanding of investment attraction and strong advocacy skills.
