Investment Specialist

The Investment Group forms part of the Investment and Economic Projects Division within DEDJTR and plays a critical role in working with business to increase foreign and domestic investment within Victoria. Promoting Victoria as an investment destination, the Investment Group works with business to attract and deliver investment projects for the state.

Reporting to the Senior Investment Manager, this position is part of a dynamic, high performing team contributing directly to the Victorian Government’s investment and job creation priorities. Engaging with senior business leaders and industry stakeholders, the position will be responsible for initiating, identifying and managing strategic investment lead generation activities and working collaboratively across government to facilitate the delivery of investment opportunities.

A key component of the position will be the provision of professional advice, analysis and guidance to senior executives and stakeholders on economic issues, trends and investment opportunities in addition to providing innovative and sophisticated recommendations on highly complex issues. Working across the private and public sectors at a senior level, the role will offer an excellent opportunity to foster and develop a network of working relationships contributing to the delivery of investment opportunities in Victoria.

The position is well suited to experienced professionals who have a background in targeting investment to Victoria, with an understanding of investment trends, global business markets and key markets for Victoria. Strong communication skills and interpersonal skills are essential combined with a demonstrated ability to develop successful business relationships and networks. A background incorporating; business development, account management, lead generation, contract negotiation or project management activities is desirable.
