Economic Development Officer | Port Macquarie-Hastings Council | NSW

About the Role

The Economic Development Officer works as part of a small high-performance team within our Strategy and Growth Division. The successful applicant will work as part of the Economic Development team to facilitate, support and implement a wide range of projects and initiatives to ensure Council creates an environment that is conducive to sustainable economic growth. Taking a partnered approach with other levels of government, local business and industry and a range of stakeholders, the team’s focus is guided by the 2017-2021 Port Macquarie-Hastings Economic Development Strategy.

About You

You will use your adaptable and responsive approach to actively encourage and support the growth of existing business, attract new industry investment, and drive new business and tourism opportunities.

Specifically you will be responsible for the following duties:

  • Implement projects and actions that deliver on Council’s Economic Development Strategy;
  • Develop and maintain effective and collaborative relationships with external stakeholders and Council staff;
  • Manage stakeholder engagement and coordinate associated meetings;
  • Conduct research and analysis on matters relevant to economic development;
  • Undertake policy development on matters relating to economic development;
  • Represent Council and the Economic Development team at Council, industry, business or community forums;
  • Work collaboratively with team members and managers to achieve team goals;
  • Any other related duties as directed.

Remuneration

This is a full time role, with remuneration in the range of $70,167 – $78,962 per annum (depending on skills and experience) for a 35 hour week with access to Council’s Flexible Working Hours policy, plus 9.5% superannuation.
