Contract type: 2 year fixed term appointment

Are you ready for a challenge – one that can offer a once in a lifetime experience in a unique setting? Do you have track record of success in implementing initiatives for economic growth? Are you adaptable, responsive and a skilled collaborator?

If this sounds like you, we invite you to join the team of talented professionals who are working together to grow a Nation! The Falkland Islands enjoy a strong economy with abundant natural resources, unspoiled environment and full employment, yet is one of the world’s smallest and most remote countries. Our future growth will depend on our readiness and ability to grasp the new opportunities at our doorstep, building the skills of our labour force and attracting talented new people, all while maintaining our unique culture and heritage.  To help Falkland Islanders reach their goals, we are looking for an economic development specialist who’s known for getting things done.

You will know how to work with employers and communities to create appropriate and targeted labour force development initiatives, and be well versed in ‘best practices’ to achieve immediate and long term sustainable growth objectives. Working with, and through, partners, you will identify, propose, create and deliver focused labour attraction, retention and local skills development projects that respond to current and projected demand and that provide a balance between permanent and temporary workers.

In return for your passion, creativity and hard work, the Falkland Islands Government offers a real opportunity to help shape a range of critical policies and initiatives that will make a lasting difference to our future prosperity.

If you recognize yourself in this description, have a sense of adventure and a true desire to make a difference, we want to hear from you!
