Kylie Lethbridge (Macedon Ranges - Vic)
| Tourism is one of the key economic drivers of the Victorian Shire of Macedon Ranges, and Kylie Lethbridge - the Council’s Tourism Development Team Leader - is acknowledged for her success in bringing together the tourism industry in the Macedon Ranges to improve local outcomes. Often described as a dynamo, she’s overcome a series of difficult challenges to successfully establish a tourism industry in the Macedon Ranges that is sustainable, connected and can thrive with or without Local Government’s on-going support. Among Kylie’s greatest achievements are: ensuring that the Shire supports tourism; getting the industry to talk and work together and pulling together all the project components for the Official Visitor Guide, website, and the Lancefield Visitor Information Outlet. Kylie heads a team of four and also coordinates more that 70 volunteers who work in local Visitor Information Centres. She also represents Macedon Ranges on a number of different forums designed to increase the profile of the Macedon Ranges as a tourist destination and to ensure that the tourism industry in the region is vigorously represented. At every opportunity, Kylie has promoted the benefits of the Tourism industry to Councillors and gained strong support from Council for the Macedon Ranges Tourism Policy 2005 – 2010. The collaborative work undertaken by Kylie has changed the attitudes and behaviour of Council towards tourism; she’s also been able to change the attitude of the industry towards Council, and Council’s role within tourism. |
