City of Salisbury

The City of Salisbury in South Australia is committed to transforming its community through attracting new investment and building on established business strengths by implementing its ‘Shaping the Future’ marketing program.

The main components of the Marketing and Promotion program have been as follows:

  • Extensive research to understand the true strength and weaknesses of the region including a unique independent analysis of Salisbury productive contribution to Gross State Product;
  • The Development and publication of a long term Strategic Economic framework with clear action plans to strengthen the “Salisbury brand” and deliver an attractive investment case;
  • The engagement of local businesses in the regional drive to encourage further investment growth in the city through a testimonial approach to presenting the City’s business case to prospective investors;
  • Improving the civic appearance of the City with an emphasis on business signage and amenities that enhance the appeal of the community to potential employees;
  • Defining the City’s business case and distributing a quality investment attraction prospectus as a basis to further stimulating new investment into the City and the region;
  • The establishment of a high level executive group of Council to coordinate investment attraction activities and deliver customer service to both new and existing businesses;
  • And creating brand awareness through promotion and advertising of the significant contribution that is made by businesses in Salisbury and the northern region.

Taken together, these initiatives recognised that if Salisbury is to achieve accelerated growth, it needs to adopt a more proactive and strategic approach to its marketing program, which balances development of the Salisbury products with an innovative approach to promotion.
