ED Awards - Best Overall Perfomance
City of Greater Geelong (Vic)
As the winner of the Best Overall Award for Economic Development Excellence, the City of Greater Geelong, and its Economic Development team have demonstrated a high standard of performance in re-vitalising the City’s economy.
The City was a finalist in the categories of Public Private Partnerships, and in the Business Attraction and Publications categories within the Promotion Awards. The City of Greater Geelong has shown that it is performing exceedingly well in the execution of its clearly defined Economic Development Strategy, which entails recognising that diversity is the key to a prosperous future. It has vigorously promoted industry cluster developments, in particular in the biotechnology field.
But not relying on the “ if you build they will come” approach the City has actively sought to change the old smokestack concept of Geelong and to recreate itself as a challenging and exciting city which is attuned to the aspirations of the 21st century and one that provides a stimulating lifestyle for its residents. It’s Smart Thinking and Smart Moves campaigns have been the key to building this prosperous new future for the City. |
